Artist Statement

My furniture design is inspired by the irregular weathering of wood with wind, water and sand.  I achieve this effect on planks by sanding, cutting, shaping and reshaping...  following lines that might materialize in nature.  Wood sanded smooth as pebbles,  edges curved like rippled sand at the edge of surf, colors sandblasted and muted like beachglass.  My cabinets are often filled with secret places, safe harbors, hurricane holes.  I strive to blend the mystery and beauty of nature with everyday objects, both sculptural and useful.
